All types of marble enjoy recognition among customers, but there are three varieties that are most popular. Below we are discussing their characteristics.

Popular marble varieties

  • Bianco Carrara – it is a light-colored stone with grey veins, which are an effect of the following minerals: magnesium, iron oxide, and silica. It is quarried in Italy in the city of Carrara and this is where its name comes from. This type of marble has been appreciated by artists and especially by sculptors who have used it as their sculpting means. The most well-known sculpture made of Bianco Carrara marble is Michelangelo’s “David”. Nowadays it is used for the production of wall linings, floors and worktops. It is available in the form of tiles, plates and mosaic.
  • Botticino – is a very subtle-looking stone. On its beige surface one can observe subtle, lightly coloured pattern made of narrow veins. Sometimes the cracks are grey or dark beige. Individual blocks differ in terms of veining and colour of the base. This is a result of natural production processes, which make it impossible to obtain two identical materials. It is worth adding, that defects are quite common in the structure of this marble. During processing of the stone they are filled with resin. Botticino marble is used for wall linings, floors, sills and worktops. It is also often used in bathrooms. It is quarried in Italy.
  • Rainforest – is available in three varieties: Gold, Green and Brown. Their names stem from the colours of the stone. Rain forest can be distinguished from other products because of its characteristic veining, which makes it a highly decorative finishing material. Apart from that it is way more durable and resistant than other marbles, so it is perfect for worktops. It hardly ever gets discoloured and when it does, discolourations are almost invisible.
